We were blessed with a family pass to the African Safari in Ohio. So we invited my mom to join us, packed up our camping gear and headed to Ohio for a couple day get away.
The drive through safari was an experience like no other ... llamas surrounding our van not letting us move, elk sticking their head in my window trying to take the cup of food we had for the animals, buffalo wiping their drool on our windows (we quickly rolled up the windows as the buffalo approached) and more ... all making us laugh so hard and at times squeal as we jumped because the animals startled us.
We had planned to camp two nights but ended up coming home early because as we left the safari, we encountered a heavy rain storm. It was a quick storm, but left its mark! When we returned to our camp site, our tent was collapsed and sitting in inches of water. Three of the poles and one elbow bracket snapped.
So now this camping family has a broken tent. We didn't laugh as we wrung out our dripping wet bedding, clothes and tent ... in fact, the kids cried ... but we can laugh now and thank God that even though our plans often go awry, His plans are always perfect.
