To celebrate Fourth of July with no family cookout at our house, we took the kids putt-putt golfing, out for ice cream and to watch fireworks in the evening.
Matt and I celebrated our 20th anniversary on July 8th with a few days at a friend's cottage on Canadohta Lake (about 10 miles from home) ...we were blessed with uninterrupted time alone and enjoyed walks, biking, and kayaking.
July 8, 2000
Nathan got his braces off just in time for fresh corn on the cob!
We are LOVIN' all the fresh produce ready to be enjoyed right now!
Corn on the Cob - Blueberries - Summer squash - Sugar Snap Peas
Green Beans - Cherry Tomatoes - Raspberries - Blackberries
We've been busy preserving food to fill our freezer and canning shelves
for winter stock. Plus we are in all our glory eating fresh produce!
We've also had a big maintenance project in the works this summer.
We are putting new shingle roofs on our barn, garage, front and back porches
plus our mudroom ...main part of house will be next year.
Matt's cousin, Billy, who is a roofer by trade and his girlfriend, Flora,
have been coming on weekends for us ALL to tackle this big project.
Doing it together has made it almost fun. {big smile}
And we ended the month of July with a day hike of 11+ miles
around Lake Wilhelm. {We were a little over zealous choosing
this hike in the humid weather we've been having!}
Enjoy the last few weeks of summer before school resumes!
