The homes were all built together and on top of each other.
Homes built up the hills (like in photo below) are called
Shanty Towns ... the higher you live up the hill, the poorer you are.
Everyone hung laundry out on clotheslines on the roof! ... even our hotel.

Traffic was crazy! I told Matt I'd never complain about or get nervous
with his driving again after being in that traffic!! Jugglers or entertainers were
often in the intersection putting on a show for you while you waiting.

All these cars were in the middle of an intersection planning
to turn onto the same two lane road.
The road would be 3 lanes but there would really be 6 lanes of cars
because everyone just shoved their way in and out!
And honking was non-stop!
Toby was our bus driver and he was amazing!
Below is the "autobus" that we rode in every day from the hotel
to wherever we were going.
Fresh fruit was being sold everywhere ... it looked so good.
We did try a few new fruits like cactus fruit.
We did try a few new fruits like cactus fruit.
The taxis were hilarious ...a motorcycle with two seats in the back
and a frame around it (like above) ... can that taxi carry anything else?
We often saw people sweeping (by hand) the sides of the main streets. (below)
But we saw several places (like above) where garbage was
just thrown in a pile along the road.
We were only in Peru 7 days, but it felt like longer (not in a bad way) because
there was so much new to soak in and lots of people to love!
I hope you've been blessed with our blog journal of our trip.
