New Year's Eve
New Year's Eve has always looked different for Matt and me.
Last year, we decided the kiddos were old enough
to stay up until midnight and that we'd start
a New Year's Eve family tradition...
and this is what is looks like!
movie marathon - Home Alone movies this year!
(we don' t have cable and limit tv time so this is a treat!)
We brought in our sleeping bags, found every pillow
in our house and some blankets to put on
the living room floor.
We have pizza night every Friday but it is homemade pizza.
So for a treat, we ordered from a small, local pizza/sub place.
It was good!
We also splurged on chips and dip!
Don't laugh ... this meal is a treat for us.
We bought 3 types of m-n-m's and had
"make your own mix".
Can you hear the kids (ok me too)
giggling at this?
I made a batch of "party punch" ...
which again is a huge treat because we
drink milk, water, tea (me and Matt)
and coffee (me) on a regular basis.
We ended the movies soon after 11:30 ... and
awaited the countdown where the kids "rang" in
the new year by hitting my pans with metal serving spoons.
And my sweety kissed me ... then the kids wanted kisses too.
The most important part of our day was when we sat down
together before the movies, junk food and such began ...
and reviewed the past year for our family ...
and each of us listed in our
"Colwell family New Year's Eve journal"
ways that God used us, worked in us, and was faithful to us!
Deuteronomy 11:18-21
The Message (MSG)
18-21 Place these words on your hearts. Get them deep inside you. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder. Teach them to your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning until you fall into bed at night. Inscribe them on the doorposts and gates of your cities so that you’ll live a long time, and your children with you, on the soil that God promised to give your ancestors for as long as there is a sky over the Earth.
