How we homeschool! - Math

Living Math

This year, we have two simple yet complex goals for math.

Critical Thinking
Problem Solving

We are doing math together and it looks nothing
like "math lessons" you'd experience at school.
We are having SO much fun and learning
skills I am surprised by!

This summer, I began reading Let's Play Math
and am still pouring over it.

Two activities we do off and on are:
"How can we make given number?" and
daily math problems on Bedtime Math app

We started off the year with tangrams.
Our fun with tangrams started with the book
We had lots of fun with the game tangoes.
We made our names out of tangrams.

made our own animals out of tangrams
and wrote a story about these animals.

Next, we worked on number logic with ...

Sudoku Puzzles for kids

 100's chart logic problems
and other similar puzzles

Since the week before Thanksgiving,
we've been working on puzzles
as a family.

After the new year, we'll be playing games
to work on strategy and problem solving.
Some games we have lined up are Tenzi, Blokus,
Connect Four, UNO ...
