Here is some of our SUNNY from March!
Grace learning to ice skate!
Grace has shown interest in ice skating off and on for a couple years ...mainly because of Little Women! But her interest greatly increased while watching the Olympics. Neither Matt nor I ice skate, but a dear family friend is an excellent skater and gives private lessons. She blessed us by spending a Saturday afternoon working with Grace. Grace was sore the next day but LOVED it!
Nathan turned 12!
He can't get enough of learning new things, reading, studying maps, playing Ticket to Ride or food these days! He has filled up many notebooks with stories, ideas, maps drawn, stats recorded, and notes taken. He really thinks about God's Word and how to apply it in his life ... a lot of heart training going on right now! He loves to talk ...to anyone. He cuddles and plays rough. His imagination never slows down! He is learning to be a man of God and makes me proud!
We celebrated his birthday with a MAP theme!
Maps were a hard theme to come up with ideas for ...at first...but once the ball got rolling...
The sign post to welcome people is one of my favorites! The menu was fun too ...we planned a drink or food item for each of the six regions of the US...baked Alaska for dessert! Nathan wanted white balloons so he could draw maps of each continent on them. I liked the idea for his birthday shirt ...paint Pennsylvania with the word "home" in the center ...but the new spray fabric paint I tried left me disappointed ...Nathan still loved it! And most importantly, he was blessed!
We went to our first Erie Otters hockey game! This was another fun follow up to the Olympics. We had a blast at the game. The Otters and their fans made it fun! God blessed us with 3 free tickets and 1 at a discount price!
The Ember Rising was released ...and delivered to our house! S.D. Smith has quickly become one of our favorite authors. In January, I started rereading the Green Ember series to the kids so we'd be ready for the final book. Our copy arrived on a Monday afternoon, we quickly baked some cookies (I had made a batch of chocolate chip cookies into dough balls for the freezer.) and made hot cocoa ... and began the new book! Check out this series ...you won't be disappointed!
Our traditional March Madness weekend at my mom's.
For school, the kids created a basketball launcher and hoop for a STEM activity.
They also researched the history of basketball. Grace made a poster about it and Nathan created a comic strip telling the story.
Grace used cotton dishrags my mom was making as
pom-poms to cheer on Matt and Nathan's inside basketball game. Our brackets were all blown rather quickly, but we had fun cheering for Loyola!
My beautiful girl got her hair cut for Wigs for Kids!
Both my children have such giving hearts. Grace has been growing her hair out for a couple years with the intent of donating it. She got 13" cut from the sides and 14" in the back. She looks so cute in her new bob hair style and I'm blessed that she'd give her hair so another child can have hair!
My mom, Grace and I got to go see Little Women at the Barrow Civic Theater.
Grace loves this book, audio drama and movie! So why not see the play?
She wore her old fashioned dress my mom made her last year and wore her long gloves. So cute!
I am so thankful for the SUNSHINE in our month of March!
It's not happy people that are thankful. It's thankful people that are happy!
