Family Day at Presque Isle

We participated in the Big Backyard Bird Count through
the Audubon Society again this year.
We observed and recorded what birds we saw
here at home all four days.
But on Saturday, we headed up to Presque Isle
to join in on the bird count up there.
On the way, we saw a Snowy Owl (shown above).
Matt pulled off on a side road and turned the van
around so we could pull off the road
and watch the owl with our binoculars.
It was beautiful!

Nathan and Matt watched out the window
and counted birds at the feeders.
Both Nathan and Grace enjoyed making
a pine cone bird feeder.

Grace's favorite place was by the fireplace
sipping hot chocolate with my mom.

And God surprised us with the opportunity to
go ice fishing after the bird count.
The ice is about 15" deep on Lake Erie and
the SONS of Lake Erie were having
a family ice fishing day.
It was a fun experience!

And we were able to walk out on the beaches and see
the ice dunes that have formed.  Amazing!
