October ...a good mix of fun and hard work!

It was a good apple crop this year.
We were so excited to have apples
for the freezer, applesauce and cider.

But ...the press where we normally take
our apples for cider was closed this year
because of covid restrictions.
We researched, made some calls,
asked around ...and made a memory.

Our Amish neighbor's sister and husband
press apples and sell the cider.
We went over to see them and tell them
our situation ...and they were willing
to press our apples for us.  We
brought the apples and jugs, helped
with the process and paid them
per gallon finished product.

It was a fun experience and very good cider!

Our freezers and canning shelves are full to overflowing!
Preserving food is a lot of work, but so worth it
when you just walk down in the basement
to get food for your family that you know
where and how it was grown and preserved!
I'm so thankful!

We spent a weekend camping and hiking at
Cooks Forest State Park.
It was a fabulous fall weekend.
The colors were just beautiful all around us.
And it was so nice to get away!
Matt and I decided that it is much easier
to go camping with teenagers vs. our
days of camping with toddlers.

We celebrated with Ben, Ginger, and their kiddos
as they were married on October 25th.

We had fun pressing cider, hiking, camping, and having one last
campfire with friends mixed in with working hard
to finish food preservation and outdoor fall work in October.
The last few things on our outdoor list got finished yesterday
just in time for the snow that is coming down right
now on November 1st.
